John R. Roche, Partner
Mr. Roche graduated from the University of Delaware with honors and double majored in Political Science and History. After college, Mr. Roche attended University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law where he served as an Articles Editor for the University of Maryland Journal of Business and Technology Law, worked as a research assistant, and clerked for a reputable Baltimore litigation firm.
During law school Mr. Roche gained litigation experience by participating in, and later helping to supervise, the University of Maryland Consumer Protection Clinic. While going to court as a Rule 16 attorney, Mr. Roche learned how a good lawyer can decisively change the outcome for a client – even in situations where the game appears rigged against the individual.
After graduating University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law cum laude in 2012, Mr. Roche began his career with a reputable regional defense firm. There he worked as a defense attorney for other professionals and was frequently the lawyer’s lawyer. Defending numerous legal malpractice and grievance matters underlined the importance of ethics in the practice of law.
Mr. Roche next worked at a Baltimore based plaintiff’s civil litigation firm from 2013-2019. Mr. Roche quickly assumed an active leadership role within that firm’s burgeoning civil litigation and personal injury practice before ultimately departing to open Ballenger & Roche.
Mr. Roche uses the civil justice system to obtain monetary relief for individuals who are seriously injured or victimized. Mr. Roche has recovered millions for his clients and has received numerous legal honors including the prestigious Super Lawyers “Rising Star” designation for 2017-2019 and 2021. Mr. Roche represents individuals who are injured in automobile accidents, medical malpractice, slip and falls, and from defective products. Mr. Roche also handles general negligence matters, consumer protection, contract disputes, and appeals.
Mr. Roche has achieved outstanding results in negotiations, State and Federal trial courts, and in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Mr. Roche’s appellate cases have resulted in reported opinions that formed new legal precedent in Maryland.
Mr. Roche currently resides with his wife and son in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore City.
